Tag Day is this Saturday! Please contact Cheryl Downey at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Tag Day is our biggest fundraiser of the year.
What & Where is TAG DAY? Tag Day is on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 8:30am to 4:30pm. It is MANDATORY that ALL rowers participate the ENTIRE day. We meet and work out of the Forest Park School.
Why is it mandatory for my rower to participate? Crew is a very expensive sport, PWCS does not pay for any of it. It is up to us to raise money to offset a bit of the cost. Last year we raised $11,000!
Why we need parent drivers? We need parents to drive 4 rower teams (2 Varsity/2 Novice rowers) to neighborhoods. Parent drivers shifts are broken up into 3 options, AM from 8:30am-12:30pm or PM from 12:30pm-4:30pm or Both. If you are a parent and can volunteer to drive our rowers on TAG DAY, please fill out the form above. We will get in touch with you.
What are the roles of rowers and parent drivers? Parent drivers meet at the Stankovich's home a few minutes before the shift they signed up for. They will take a group of 4 rowers (2 novice, 2 varsity) to a neighborhood (route - that we assign them). The rowers get out and go door to door (1 novice, 1 varsity) on each side of the street asking for donations. While the rowers are going door to door, the parent drivers will be moving slowly in their vehicle following the rowers. They have to keep the rowers in sight at all times. After collecting some money, the rowers will report back to the parent driver and give them the money. This keeps the rowers from carrying large amounts of money at one time. When they have finished all the houses/streets for their route they report back to get another route from us or eat if it's time for lunch.
So basically, the drivers sit in their vehicles and follow the rowers and collect money from the rowers. It's really an easy job. The drivers can have a friend ride with them if they want or bring a book as long as they are closely watching the rowers. I would always pull over and park on the street until the rowers went down a few houses and then I would move up to keep them in view.
If you need anything else, please let us know.
